Cheyenne, WY - The Metropolis of Denver Annual Front Range Fall GOYA Retreat was held at Holy Apostles Orthodox Christian Church with attendance nearing 60 youth participants, as well as advisors, area clergy and retreat speakers. Metropolis of Denver Youth and Young Adult Ministry Director, Ms. Jenny Stasinopoulos, along with retreat coordinators Ms. Danielle Xanthos and Mr. Alex Demos worked hard to organize the successful event held the weekend of Saturday, November 4, 2017.
This year’s theme pertained to ‘putting on the whole armor of God’ and was very inspirational and informative for all. The retreat started in the church with morning prayers and was followed by Father Jordan Brown, Presiding Priest at Saints Peter and Paul in Boulder, Colorado offering some edifying words about living a life transformed through Christ and His Church. Danielle and Alex presented at the sessions and the youth participants were engaged throughout the day as they discussed the meaning of the true armor of God and viewing their daily lives through the prism of a pure heart, as well as other pertinent topics. Volunteers from Holy Apostles provided and prepared the delicious meals throughout the day. The retreat concluded with evening prayers in the chapel where Father Christopher Xanthos, Presiding Priest at Holy Apostles, thanked all of the participants for visiting, offering each of them a heartfelt invitation to return soon, and wished them and their families a blessed and holy nativity fast.
The GOYA participants were eager for the next retreat which is planned to be held during Great and Holy Lent 2018.
THE WHOLE ARMOR OF GOD
“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the Evil One.”
