It was a joyous occasion and celebration was certainly in order for descendants, family and friends of Mrs. Jennie Joannides, who marked a huge milestone this past weekend in the capitol city of Cheyenne. Family from coast-to-coast, and as far as Canada, traveled by plane, boat, car and train to be here for this special family reunion commemorating a special person. Mrs. Joannides turned 100 years old on February 23 and the outpouring of love from those in attendance was quite obvious and ever-abundant.
Kathy Joannides, wife of Jennie’s son Tim Joannides, was one of the event coordinators and sent out the initial invite by email to see what kind of response they would receive and gauge how many family members from the far reaches of the US and beyond would be able to make the trek to Cheyenne to celebrate this wonderful day. Kathy said, “I was quite surprised, within hours of sending the email invitation, we had a list of almost everyone planning on attending and excited about making the trip.”
Family members and friends began arriving to Cheyenne last week and spent the weekend catching-up and travelling around the great city of Cheyenne. On Sunday, the Joannides family attended Divine Liturgy at Holy Apostles Orthodox Christian Church of Cheyenne, following services, all gathered in the Fellowship Hall to honor Mrs. Jennie Joannides and her 100 years of life.
The joyful weekend has now past, family members embraced and said farewell to one another as they travel this week to their respective homes great distances from one another. Time, as it so often does passes by, but the great memories remain in the hearts of all who were able to share in this blessed weekend honoring their beloved matriarch, Mrs. Jennie Joannides.
Happy Birthday Jennie, may our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ be with you, comfort you and protect you all the days of your life!
